Residential Information
For more information on local haulers please call TCL at (207) 473-7840.
Residents who do not use a local hauler and have decided to assume responsibility of hauling their own trash should be aware of the following:
RESIDENTS OF CARIBOU, FORT FAIRFIELD, OR LIMESTONE
You must have a valid permit displayed in the lower passenger-side corner of your vehicle's windshield. Stickers may be obtained at TCL for the cost of $5.00.
In order to obtain a permit, the vehicle displaying the permit must be registered in Caribou, Fort Fairfield, or Limestone.
The permits must be renewed annually.
RESIDENTS OF CONTRACTED TOWNS
Residents of the towns who have contractual agreements with TCL can
dispose of their solid waste and the same rules and regulations apply. However, the fees associated access to the Facility are as follows:
- Residents of contracted towns must purchase a landfill permit for $10.00 at TCL (Other fees still apply)
- Car Load-$5.00 per visit
- Pick-up or small trailer load-$10.00 per visit
- TCL reserves the right to weigh C+D and/or large loads and charge $66.00/ton
Applicable fees will be collected at the gate prior to entering the Facility.
MERRY MULCH PROGRAM For several years TCL in conjunction with the Boys Scouts of America and
the Future Farmers of America organizations in the three member communities have sponsored a "Merry Mulch" program for disposal of discarded Christmas Trees. Each year over 6.6 tons of discarded trees
are turned into mulch. Those residents of contracted communities can bring their trees directly to the landfill to be processed into mulch.
All residents are encouraged to recycle and compost what they can
before sending it to the landfill. Both recycling and
composting conserve natural resources and precious space in the landfill. |
