General Rules for Use
All vehicles are required to display a valid TCL permit sticker. The permit does not guarantee free waste disposal. Disposal fees are based on type and origin of waste.
All vehicles must check in at the scale house prior to unloading waste. Red & Green lights are installed on either end of the scale house. Vehicles must wait for the light to turn green before driving onto scales. All children 12 & under must remain in the vehicle at all times. TCL reserves the right to weigh vehicles and to question vehicle operators to determine origination and contents of load.
PLEASE DRIVE IN A RESPONSIBLE MANNER.
TCL place a ban on the disposal of certain items in the landfill. Items prohibited from disposal in the landfill are tires, wood, leaves, metal, recyclable corrugated cardboard, universal waste and inert debris. Designated areas for these banned items are provided. The attendant can instruct you further. Failure to adhere to separation policies may result in the landfill permit being temporarily suspended or permanently revoked.
- Drivers must observe and obey posted speed limits & traffic signs. Facility signs are posted and landfill personnel will direct you to the proper area(s) and answer questions.
- Vehicles must be weighed before and after disposing of materials.
- Mixed loads are not accepted. Leaves, wood, metal, tire, inert debris, and cardboard (OCC) must be separated from acceptable material and placed in designated areas. Disposal of these items in
addition to prepared household recyclables is prohibited.
- Wood and metal must be separated from all other building demolition and construction debris. Unseparated material will not be accepted.
- The wood debris pile consists of tree wastes and brush, clean construction and/or demolition wood and other clean wood debris only.
- Inert debris such as brick and concrete are accepted but must be separated from other material. These materials have a designated area for disposal.
- The tire pile is for the disposal of tires only. All tires are to be declared at the gate and appropriate fees collected and then disposed of at the tire pile. Applicable fees are as follows:

- The metal pile is for the disposal of white goods such as kitchen appliances, water heaters, and other waste materials. All white goods are to be declared at the gate and appropriate fees collected
and then items disposed of in the appropriate area. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, gas ranges, washing machines and gas water heaters must be placed at the appliance pad. Applicable fees are as follows:

Propane Tanks - $1:00 each
- Leaves and grass clippings must be separated from all other waste and must be uncontaminated. Remove leaves from bags, dispose of leaves in the woodpile and dispose of empty bags in the dumpster.
- Hazardous wastes, liquid wastes, closed containers, fuel tanks of any type, or automobiles are not excepted. Special waste may be accepted for disposal only with prior approval of both the
Department of Environmental Protection and TCL.
- TCL reserves the right to make spot inspections of vehicles entering the Facility. Vehicles bringing in illegal rubbish, disposing of materials
in the wrong area or material not accepted at the Facility my have their permit temporarily suspended or permanently revoked. Illegal rubbish is from outside the TCL service area.
- Dump picking is prohibited. Salvaging of materials may be permitted with prior approval of the Solid Waste Forman or Executive Director. A signed waiver is required prior to salvaging.
- TCL accepts car batteries without a fee. All car batteries will be placed in a designated pile.
- Used motor oil is accepted and you must transfer the oil from your container into one provided by TCL.
- Empty propane tanks are acceptable and have their own designated area for disposal.
- Fuel tanks are acceptable only if the following criteria is met:
- Remove all sludge (sludge may be disposed of in the landfill if solidified with speedi dry/cat litter).
- Must be cut in half
- Fuel tanks will be disposed of in a designated area.
- Children under 12 years of age must remain in a vehicle at all times.
